2014 New Year’s Resolutions

resolutions

Well, it’s that time of year again, friends. The time that we all reflect on our past year and how it didn’t go how we had planned, and that we realize it never goes as we had planned. And then, after we have thought long and hard about 2013, we decide that we are going to make some serious changes in 2014. We are going to follow through with out plans! WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN! At least, this is how the year always starts out for me. I’m all gung-ho about my resolutions, and I stick with them too! For about a week or two… and then it’s back to square one. But this  year I’m feeling good. I feel like 2014 is going to be a good year for me, I don’t know why. It’s just sort of a gut feeling. So, I’ve made some resolutions that I plan on keeping, and I feel that with support from my family, friends, and all of you that I can keep them! Without further ado, my resolutions for 2014 are….. *drumroll*

be healthier

Oh yes, I’m starting off with the most cliche New Year’s Resolution in the book. I think I’ve made this resolution every year for the past 5 years at least. But this year is different. This year, I am not going at it alone. Me and my friends from school have decided to sit down and make a schedule of when we can all hit the gym this coming term. We are going to motivate each other to go, and when we can’t go together, I’m going to make sure to try and do something fun in my dorm room, like Blogilates!

Another thing: when I say be healthier I don’t just mean that I am going to try and go to the gym 6 out of 7 days a week. For me, that is unrealistic. I am going to try and keep up this resolution by going to the gym 3-4 times a week, by doing some Bloglilates when I can’t make it, and by generally eating healthier and living a healthier lifestyle. I think that this year I’ll be able to do it!!!

quote journal

This isn’t really a major resolution, but it is something I want to start. I recently bought a really cute Ryan Gosling notebook and need a use for it, and I think that it would be perfect for a quote journal! I mean, I try to keep notes on the books I am reading in a little moleskin notebook, and always try to use one page per book. So, writing quotes in there takes up space and so I am hesitant to do so. But with a spare notebook set aside just for quotes, I’m excited to start recording my faves!

get organized

This is a resolution that I really need to follow through with.  Time management has always been a bit of an issue for me, and I am determined to right myself this year. I bought myself a large desk calendar as per Octavia’s recommendation, and have already begun to fill in the dates. This year I plan on working extra hard to fit in blogging with my school work.  I know it’s possible, and it’s something I really want to do, I just didn’t work hard enough at it last term. I also am going to really focus on staying organized with my school work as well. This term went okay, but it didn’t go quite as well as I had planned. So, using this calendar I am going to make sure I have plenty of time to get all of my assignments done, do extra study work, and spend some time relaxing and blogging to have some fun.

read 60 books

Last year my goal was to read 50 books, and I read 55. This year my goal is to read 60 books, so wish me luck!!!

So, do you have any New Year’s Resolutions? Have any tips for helping me succeed with mine? Leave me a comment below!

  1. I really hope you can keep up with your healthy goal :) I’m planning to get more exercise as well, I’m starting to get so lazy.. I like that you went a bit higher with your reading goal and I hope you can make it :D Good luck!

  2. Good luck with all of these! I, like almost every other person on the planet, have a “healthier” goal as well, but I’m approaching it differently this year. I’m trying not to just jump into something not sustainable, but just slowly replace bad habits with good ones. I’ve done this before–I use to be a HUGE soda addict, and I set a goal to stop drinking soda so much a few years ago. I weaned off it slowly, and it worked! I barely ever drink soda now–a few times a year at most. So I know it’s possible! And I’m doing blogilates too–I really LIKE it, and it’s one of the first exercise programs that doesn’t bore me to death. My reading goal for the year is 100 books–I read 160 last year(mostly after I graduated college–SO MUCH more free time!), but I’m changing jobs in July this year & potentially moving, so I decided to set it lower.

  3. Good luck with your resolutions! They all seem very attainable :)
I need to get healthier too! I haven’t been eating very well and I keep trying to get into a workout habit but usually let it fall to the wayside. I have a wedding to plan for this year though so I really need to get my butt in gear!!!
I looove being organized, especially for my blog! I don’t have any special tricks or tips… Really just using Google calendars to help me organize my reviews. Anything else becomes overwhelming and I don’t keep up with it. Oh! I do use Goodreads though to keep track of release dates.
    Happy New Year! Good luck!!

  4. Great resolutions! I totally tihnk you’ll be able to succeed with all of them. Quote journals are so troublesome. They’re great when you have your paper book, but if you’re listening to an audiobook, it makes it difficult. I know at this point, I will have to go to the library and look through the pages to find that particular quote to copy it word-for-word.
    Good luck!

      • Lucky you, I try to avoid audiobooks but I sometimes they’re easier to deal with than regular books, especially for commuting and my road-trips to visit my BF.

  5. These are great resolutions. I’m totally with you on the being healthier thing. I know it’s not realistic to expect myself to become super fit or not eat any junk food (I love junk food) but I do think that I can incorporate more fruit/vegetables into my diet and I want to run a 5K. Both totally realistic and will make a difference :)

    • I really love junk food too :3 but I think my main thing is going to be portion control and fitting in a little more exercise into my days! Good luck to you too :)

  6. Great resolutions/goals! I wish I can say I want to get healthier this year too, but it is so unlikely and impossible. I cannot last a day without eating french fries or hamburgers. I have a fast metabolism though and it doesn’t look like I eat a lot of fried foods, but still, I’m so unhealthy. The last time I ate a vegetable was when I was in middle school I think. I’m now a senior in high school. This 2014, my goal is to read 150 books! I’m a bit nervous because during 2013, I read 104 books…soo..we’ll see how it goes. Hope you have a fantastic 2014. :D
