This week’s Top Ten Tuesday post is all about things on our reading wish list – the things that you want writers to write more of, if you could make them do it! So, in no particular order…
1) A Timeturner!!!
Okay, so this isn’t exactly something that I want authors to write more of, it’s just something that I want that would greatly improve my reading life!! I mean, come on. Who hasn’t dreamed of having a timeturner like Hermione Granger so that you could go back and have more time in your day?? A timeturner would be great because its usefulness would not end with more reading time. NO SIR! You could go back and do something you might have forgotten to do earlier but had a deadline, or you could use it for its intended purpose and take a few extra classes at school! ;)
2) Country Boys
I can’t get enough of Tucker from the Unearthly series, and I just love country boys! Probably because I don’t know any myself and dream of the day that I will and that we’ll fall in love and he’ll sing me country songs and drive me around in his pickup truck and…. well, you get the point. And don’t go recommending me The Vincent Boys, because ooooooh no, I was not a big fan of Beau the “country boy” from that one.
3) Time Travel
Okay, so maybe this one does kind of fit in with my first point about a timeturner. I think that time travel stories are great, if they’re written well. I don’t know what appeals to me so much about them, but I just love them!
4) Parents that are present/not single parent
A lot of YA novels have families where the parents are split up and one of them is very absent in the MC’s life, or families where one of the parents is dead and the MC has to deal with that grief. I don’t see what is so bad about maybe writing a book where the MC’s family and parents are both present!!! Even if they are split up, it would be nice for them both to play a role in the story. I also think that stories with alternative families would be a good read. For example, a story where the MC has two moms or two dads. It’s not something you usually read.
5) Books that take place in college/university
YA books seems to be stuck in high school, and I think that there been to be more books that take place in first or second year college/university! I am in my first year of university, and I definitely still consider myself a “young adult” and probably will for the next few years. Someone write me more books like Fangirl!!!

I think it would be interesting to read a book about alternative families. There’s definitely not enough of that about. Great list!
Yes to the present parents. I feel like it’s oh-so convenient when the parents are away. Also I would love love love more country boys (also is that Tucker from Angellfall or from the Unearthly series?). It’s like I love reading books with cowboys in it… :P Great list!

I only just read Unearthly last week – no matter what series he’s from, Tucker is a great character!

Oh gosh, what I would do for a timeturner!
Ah country boys, what I wouldn’t give to have one in my life. ;) I’d diffently love to read more of country boys especially if it’s set in a small town. We are just throwing ideas to authors with this TTT lol! ;)

More books in college/university would be fun! I’d also love to see more family focus in books. It often feels like the MC just fell out of the sky.
I would love more Fangirl!!! Like right now!! There are so few books that are about NORMAL college experiences and it’s really a shame. There are so many things that young people go through in going away to college and I want to read more about it!! I also really like the time turner idea!! I would love to have a few re-do’s in my life and would love to read about someone doing it :)

Did you read Just One Day/Just One Year? In One Day, Allyson is in college. Seriously great books. I think there need to be more college/uni books too. New Adult can do so well if it just moves itself out of just the sexytimes and angst rut it seems to be stuck in. I wish I could recommend more but I’m not much of a YA reader!
